Dry and sensitive skin
Dry skin is caused by insufficient production of the skin's natural moisturiser or lubricant sebum. It is also often dehydrated, which is not quite the same condition. Dehydrated skin and dry skin are quite similar, dehydrated skin generally lacks moisture, even if it is oily, and the lack of sebum in dry skin, diminishes the skin's ability to retain moisture.
Dry skin is heavily affected by sun, wind and rain and wrinkles easily. It also looks delicate, fine and thin, with tiny pores. To maintain it well, a lot of moisturising and protection is needed. Sensitive skin is usually fair and delicate, requiring the same need for protection and moisturising as dry skin does. Only gentle, natural cosmetics –such as Elli no1 face creams should be used The chemicals used in the commercial cosmetics and skin-care products often cause allergic reactions in sensitive skin, so they're best avoided.
Both skin types need more attention than normal skin, and should be moisturised several times a day, using light based creams rather than rich, heavy moisturisers, the use of cleansers and toners need to be applied very gently, the plain flower waters making excellent toners.
Mature skin
It is something we will all have someday, and has brought up interesting points about all skin types. Whether its because of age, health, environmental circumstances, diet and other lifestyle factors, it is important to assess your skin from time to time, as you may find that your once lovely, normal skin has become dry or sensitive or has maybe simply matured. However, ageing is a normal part of life, and with proper skin care, your mature skin can still look good for its time of life.
As well as the skin losing its natural elasticity to gradual drooping, the bodies functions slow down and cells are not replaced as quickly as we age. Mature skin is characterised by wrinkles and crows feet (the fine lines around your eyes as you age), thread veins, blemishes and age spots start to appear. As well as this, the natural bloom of youth starts to disappear, the creases along the lines of the face muscles become more apparent, and the bone structure of the face is more noticeable.
This process happens gradually, though variations in different people vary the way ageing affects the skin. For some people, the sign of ageing doesn't start till later on in life, and for those who aren't this lucky, good, regular skin-care treatments can even help slow down the signs of ageing. Also, reducing unnecessary exposure to the sun, eliminating stress, environmental pollution, and assessing and improving your diet are possible ways of helping to delay the signs of ageing. Some ways in which you can help reduce the signs of ageing are; regularly having Elli no1facial treatments with certain essential oils which help maintain healthy skin, facial massage which help sagging muscles and restore some of the skin tone, and of course the twice-daily cleansing, toning and moisturising remains important.
Oily and combination skin
Oily skin mostly found in adolescents after puberty , who tend to have oily skin due to the changes and flux their bodies go through, especially the endocrine system which is linked to sebum production. At that age it is a small satisfaction to learn that skin that is oily in your earlier years ages slower than normal or dry skin.
This skin type can also affect adults as well, and is characterised by a dull, neglected appearance, maybe acne and more often than not, blackheads, spots and blemishes. This skin is oily to the touch with a shiny look, as well as enlarged pores and sometimes a thick, coarse appearance.
The most common skin type is the combination of oily forehead, nose and chin, with dry skin on the rest of the face. Elli no1 cream is aimed at balancing and reducing the sebum production, the patches of dry skin and of oily skin.
You must resist the temptation to use harsh cleansers although they are effective in temporarily cleansing away excess sebum and dirt, they contain alcohol and/or chemicals that strip the skin of the sebum, encouraging more sebum production than the wanted outcome of lesser production, so the temptation of these products must be resisted.
Gentle, frequent cleansing, along with toning and moisturising (with Elli no1 light moisturiser) are the best approach to treating oily skin. Essential oils are chosen to balance and reduce sebum production, and for their healing antiseptic qualities.
Elli no1 creams are greatly recommended.
